On May 20-22, London will welcome Ukrainian winemakers who will present their products under the Wines of Ukraine umbrella.

Our participation at London Wine Fair 2024 is organized by the Ukrainian Association of Craft Winemakers, within the international
cooperation project ReACT4UA (“Utilization and Implementation of the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine in the field of trade”), that is financed by the German Government.

BEYKUSH WINERY

Mykolaiv Region

Beykush Winery is a family winery located next to the Black Sea in Chernomorka village, Mykolaiv region. Beykush Winery was established in 2010 as the adventure of a family who has chosen to love this land, a land beaten by winds and drenched in sunshine.

Our vineyards grow in unique plots on the Beykush peninsula, the shores of which are washed by the Berezan estuary on one side and by Beykush Bay on the other.

Beykush vineyards consist of 14 hectares of French and Italian clones of white varieties of grapes - Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and red varieties of grapes - Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Georgian- Rkatsiteli and Saperavi. In 2012 the winery introduced Tempranillo, Pinotage, Timorasso and Albarino varieties (never used in Ukraine before), which have perfectly acclimatized to the soils and limits of the valley. We also expertly work with the Ukrainian indigenous white grape Telti Kuruk, which is the most important and unique for our area.

The winemakers of Beykush are well-known for their successful experimenting with blends. We use clay and concrete amphorae, as well as oak barriques, for fermentation of our wines.

The total volume of production is 50 000 bottles per year. Our wines gain the highest awards at international competitions, including several awards from Decanter 2021:

Gold: Chardonnay Reserve 2019. Silver: — Arbina 2019 — Chardonnay-Riesling 2019.

Bronze: — Artania White 2020 — Artania Red 2018 — Kara-Kermen 2017 — Artania Red 2018

BIOLOGIST CRAFT WINERY

Kyiv Region

We deliberately defied the generally accepted rules in production of “BIOLOGIST".
Looking for our way, we have created unique and unmatched wines!

All thanks to minimal interference with natural fermentation processes and strict temperature control. The gravitational principle of technological process and constant generation of new ideas allowed us to make wine production an art.

To increase the immunity of the vine and soil, we abandoned the use of artificial chemicals, such as herbicides and pesticides, and started using herbal and mineral products. To do this, we had to reduce the volume of grapes in half and to collect berries in the first instance according to pH indicators. Only mature grapes and undamaged berries. This is the main principle of our work – not to react to circumstances, but to take the initiative!

Therefore, we use sulfur and other preparations to fight grape juice and wine oxidation. New oak barrels themselves helped antiseptically work with wine. For most wines, we carry out a long maceration (6-10 days) with the addition of dried cluster stems. The spontaneous fermentation occurs in such wines as Pinot Noir, Merlot, Odessa Black, Rkatsiteli, Chardonnay, Aligote.

Our vineyards are located in the Kyiv and Odessa regions.

CHATEAU CHIZAY

Zakarpattia

Chateau Chizay was founded in 1995. It has a deep connection to the local winemaking tradition. The chateau stands at the spot where an old winery of the 17th century was once located, in the middle of a winemaking valley named Chizay.

Transcarpathia is a famous wine region of the Western Ukraine, bordering Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia. Here mild sunlight is wonderfully combined with optimal rainfall, and Carpathian Mountains protect the vineyards from northern winds. Soil, full of minerals, adds unique aromas and taste to the grapes, producing the wines with a very special terroir character.

Chateau Chizay owns 272 hectares of the most beautiful and well-kept vineyards, as well as a modern wine making complex consisting of an up-to-date winery, a wine-tasting hall, a museum of wine history, a nice restaurant and a mini hotel. Traditional and kosher wines by Chateau Chizay are exported worldwide, including the United States, Canada, Japan, Israel, UK, China, Nigeria, Hungary, Poland, Estonia, Finland and other countries.

Awards: Silver medals from The London Wine Competition-2021 for Chersegi, Furmint and Troyanda Karpat (The Carpathian Rose). Gold for Cabernet Franc-2018 from Odesa Wine & Spirit Awards-2021. Gold for Ice Wine Chateau Chizay from Wine&Spirits Ukraine Awards 2020. Silver from Decanter World Wines 2022 for Cabernet Franc Aged 2018. Gold from Paris Wine Cup 2022 for Troyanda Carpat 2017.

BIG WINES

Big Wines is a young and ambitious Ukrainian winemaking company launched under the umbrella of Vinos de La Luz, a big winemaking group which has production facilities in Argentina, two DOs of Spain, Italy (Tuscany) and the USA (California). The company’s first wine, BIG WINES BIG ART 2020 Ivan Marchuk limited edition, was released in February 2023, and has already won several prestigious awards from the international contests, including gold medals from Mundus Vini 2023, Berliner Wine Trophy 2023, and Cervim-Viticoltura Eroica 2023.

STAKHOVSKY WINES

Stakhovsky Wines is a craft family winery founded by the famous Ukrainian tennis champion, Serhiy Stakhovsky, who decided to engage in winemaking in 2015.

He rented a plot of 20 hectares in Transcarpathia (Zakarpattia), one of Ukraine’s most famous wine regions. This is now one of the most beautiful vineyards in Transcarpathia.

The first wines by Stakhovsky were created from the 2018 vintage. Their style is elegant, restrained and powerful. Stakhovsky Wines are currently available in France, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Japan, Estonia, United Kingdom and Austria. Traminer W, Saperavi ACE 2018 and Cabernet Sauvignon Ace 2019 can be purchased at La Cité du Vin, Bordeaux.

TIRAS WINERY

Eduard Horodetsky is a winemaker by profession, but for many years he worked as the director of the Shustov Odesa brandy factory. He created his first wine in June 2021. Horodetsky's family winery has not been officially opened yet, because of the war. In November 2020, the winemaker bought a plot of land with an old, half-ruined house, which he dreamed of turning into a chateau. In a few months, the aging cellar, the tasting room, and the roof were replaced. It was planned to open the winery for visitors on May 7, but the war changed all plans. Eduard Horodetsky is currently actively engaged in volunteer activities and support of the Ukrainian army.

Horodetsky's first wines have been welcomed warmly by wine experts and connoisseurs. There were 4 wines in the first release — Chardonnay, Pinot Noir Rosé, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The winemaker himself considers Rosé and Merlot to be the most successful. Rosé, in particular, scores highly on Vivino.

Horodetsky makes wines from grapes that grow in Bessarabia, Izmail and Bolgrad regions: there is the most sun, and the berries ripen best. Varieties My Wine works with: Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot. In addition to still wines, this year the winemaker made sparkling wines for the first time - white and rosé brut.

Awards: Merlot my Wine Eduard Gorodetsky - silver Ukraine Wine&Spirits Awards 2021 in Kyiv. Chardonnay my Wine by Eduard Gorodetsky and Rose Brut my Wine by Eduard Gorodetsky will represent Ukraine at La Cité du Vin museum in Bordeaux.

GRANDE VALLEE

Located only 20 km away from Odesa, one of the biggest wineries of Ukrainian South – VINTREST, was founded in 2004 and is now one of the technological leaders in the industry. Modern equipment (Buсher Vaslin, Zip Technologies, Velo, Della Toffola) and cooperation with the best wine consumables suppliers (Enogrup, Lallemand, IOC) ensure European level quality of wine production at all stages.Located only 20 km away from Odesa, one of the biggest wineries of Ukrainian South – VINTREST, was founded in 2004 and is now one of the technological leaders in the industry. VYNKHOL OKSAMYTNE

Vinhol Oksamitnoe LTD is a family estate winery established since 1998y in village Oksamitnoe Bolgrad district Odessa region.

Our vineyards grow in the unique place Danubian Bessarabia , the shores of which are washed by the River Karakurt at one side and the Lake of Yalpug on the other side.

Our vineyards consist of 500 hectares of French and Italian clones of white varieties of grapes - Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and red varieties of grapes - Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Bastardo Georgian- Saperavi. We also expertly work with Ukrainian indigenous white grape Sukholimansky, and red Odessa Black which are the most important and unique for our area.

Total volume of production in 2022 is 200 000 bottles, but we still have big expectations for reaching 1 million bottles in the next few years because nowadays we have to sell some of our wines in bulk as raw material and hope to stert bottling it fully in the next few years or so.

Our wines gain the highest awards in Ukrainian and international competitions.

KOLONIST

Kolonist is a family winery situated in a famous Ukrainian wine producing appellation – Danubian Bessarabia (Odesa region). The 33 hectares of vines grow on loam soils rich in minerals, with deep layers of lime. Low yields, manual harvesting, unique terroir with perfect climate conditions combined with modern equipment from France, Germany and Italy and the traditional French 100-year-old oak barriques gives the Kolonist a right to be proud of its high-quality wines.

Kolonist wines have been represented twice in the Parliament of the UK, in the Embassies of Belgium, France, Poland, Bulgaria, Greece and Germany, in the Embassy of Ukraine to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. In December 2011 an outstanding world wine expert Oz Clarke and top UK wine journalists highly estimated Kolonist wines. In 2013 at the World Wine Exhibition in London, organized by famous wine critics M. Bettane and Th. Desseauve, Kolonist wines signed in to the TOP three wines in the Wine Premier nomination. Kolonist wines were awarded with honourary title "Commended" by the judges of one of the most influential competition "International Wine Challenge" which takes place annually in London: Cabernet Merlot 2013 and Chardonnay 2016 «Haut de gamme», and Cabernet Merlot LX.

HONEY BADGER

Honey Badger is a Ukrainian producer of gins and liquors, launched by a young generation of Ukrainians who have spent most of their lives abroad and came back to Ukraine to start their own business. The company's goal is to gather a collection of traditional recipes of fruit, plant and honey-based alcohol drinks from all regions of Ukraine and recreate them in up-to-date production.

The enthusiastic company founders traveled a lot and visited many internationally renowned producers whose products are based on awe-inspiring traditions reflected in the family recipes, the love of work and gratitude to their land and the surrounding nature, and craftsmanship which has grown from a small family business in the backyard into a prosperous company. With the love for their own country and the desire to recreate traditional Ukrainian drinks, the idea of setting up Honey Badger's own production in Ukraine was born. The founders started with their own family recipes that they use for their production. The most famous Honey Badger products include Horseraddish Nastoyanka (tincture), Bee Infused Nastoyanka, Honeycombs Infused Nastoyanka, Dubivka Kozatska, Porichka, as well as Troyandovyi dessert drink.

SHABO

SHABO Winery is a family business of the Iukuridze family, based on more than 2,000-year-old winemaking traditions. The company was founded in 2003, evolving from the oldest Ukrainian wine factory located in the village of Shabo to one of the best Ukrainian wineries producing still and sparkling wines, brandy and grape vodka. SHABO Winery now includes SHABO Wine House, SHABO Sparkling Wines House, and SHABO Brandy House.

More than 500 awards at international prestigious competitions, including the Decanter Wine Awards, Mundus Vini, IWC, WSWA, San Francisco International Wine Competition etc. In 2021, SHABO, first time in Ukraine, received Decanter Wine Awards Gold for Chardonnay Grande Reserve 2015 and Cabernet Grande Reserve 2017.

SHABO wines represent Ukraine in the famous Wine Museum in Bordeaux, where only one sample of wine from each country is exhibited. Besides this, wines have been included in the wine lists of Michelin-starred restaurants in London and Paris.

SHABO wines are sold in Hedonism Wines Boutique (London) We do believe that Ukrainians have the right to be proud of their country’s wine. The company’s goal is to ensure this right.

CIKERA / MEDOVY SPAS

Medovy Spas Mead Brewery launched in 2018 is a modern industrial-scale technological enterprise based in the Kyiv region, and one of the first technological mead breweries in Ukraine. Natural meads made from honey are part of Ukraine’s historical heritage.

Medovy Spas Mead Brewery revives and brings to a qualitatively new level the tradition of mead-making with the help of modern technologies. Traditional Ukrameads almost went into complete oblivion. Medovyi Spas is reviving this tradition, giving an opportunity to taste an authentic Ukrainian drink, combining ancient mead recipes and modern production technologies. One of the company’s flagship products is Cikera, historically known as "honey wine". Cikera is obtained by fermentation of honey, fruit and berry juices directly squeezed without adding sugar and alcohol. The harmonious combination of these components gives the drink a sophisticated floral aroma, fruity character, rich texture and distinct aftertaste. The company’s product range also includes bright sparkling meads and rich aged meads.

FRUMUSHIKA-NOVA

Frumushika-Nova is a Family winery, as well as a tourist complex and a unique eco-system reviving ethnographic traditions of the Danube Bessarabia, and boasting one of the biggest sheep farms in Europe. The winery was built in 2006 and has 10 ha its own vineyards, growing European classic varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Muscat Ottonel, Aligote, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, as well as the famous local whites — Sukholymansky and Citron of Magarach, and Ukraine’s flagship red variety, Odesa Black.

Frumushika-Nova produce their wines from organically grown grapes harvest- ed by hand. Some wines are aged in oak. Besides still wines, the winery also produces sparkling wines by Methode Traditionnelle and Methode Ancestral (Pet-Nats). Frumushika-Nova currently export their wines to Estonia and Bulgaria.
